John began playing drums in his mid twenties, following in his father's footsteps as a musician. His father, a professional jazz bass player was his inspiration.
John started out playing traditional drums working his way through many bands until his passion for the sound of percussion and the arrival of House Music took him down a new path.
Having grown up in London John decided to leave his job, taking six months out to attend London's Drumtec in Acton to follow his dream of playing drums. He studied under Drumtecs founder Francis Seriau, together with Richard Beasley (drummer Gary Newman) and Laurie Jenkins (drummer Candy Flip).
